It’s not about who’s first, it’s about who does it best.

This is a chart showing that Waymo has been steadily increasing it’s coverage area for self driving cars, but then Tesla came in hot and made theirs larger from the jump. 

The point is you can enter a competitive market and beat the incumbent if you’re better. 

- Canva is beating Adobe despite starting years later.
- Kit is beating MailChimp.
- Tesla is beating Waymo.

…the list goes on of new companies doing a better job.
